Happy Monday! I’m incredibly thrilled about today’s feature – it’s one of my favorite small-shop discoveries since I started my blog! Bright Eyed Baby is a shop that carries state inspired flash cards that teach children the vocabulary associated with each state. And they are crazy adorable!
Bright Eyed Baby was founded by California mama Ashley Rhorer. Ashley had the idea to design flash cards after visiting her home state of Colorado with her son and having a difficult time finding a souvenir for him that was both unique and educational. She wanted something that would teach him everything that she loved about Colorado – the landmarks, the hobbies, the foods, the culture – and she wanted to give him something to celebrate this. In that moment, the concept of Bright Eyed Baby was born!
Ashley works with illustrator Vaclav Bicha to create the bright, simple illustrations that both children and parents will love. Each set includes 30 individual cards which are incredibly well made – they’re thick and durable so they’ll withstand busy toddlers and kids. Priced at just $18 and boxed in an attractive box that makes them perfect for gift giving.
Bright Eyed Baby ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in August 2014 that allowed them to send their first three states to production – California, Colorado, and Washington (which are now available for purchase directly through the Bright Eyed Baby website). Ashley is currently designing a single-deck, 50-card USA series (something for everyone!) as well as five additional states with the goal of having them available for pre-order through another Kickstarter campaign this coming summer!
If you’d like to pick yourself up a set (or all three!) of the Bright Eyed Baby flash cards, you can take 20% off your online purchase through Friday with code THRIFTY. (Let me tell you that snatching a set for under $15 is a total steal!) In addition to the discount code, we’re giving away not just one, but three sets over on Instagram. Head on over to my feed for details on how to enter!
