“Alexa, please play songs from Moana.”
Amazon just released an Echo Dot designed specifically for kids, and we have to say we’re pretty excited about it! Nicknamed the “Mary Poppins of AI”, the goal of Echo Dot Kids Edition is to be a fun, age-appropriate screen-free alternative for kids. Now Alexa is a kid-friendly DJ, comedian, and storyteller. You can ask Alexa to tell jokes, answer questions, play music, read stories, play trivia games, and more. She’ll even tell your kids when it’s time to go to bed!

What’s included? 1 year of FreeTime Unlimited gives your kids access to hundreds of hours of fun and educational content. It includes ad-free radio stations and playlists (automatically filtering explicit songs from Amazon Music), 300 Audible books for kids (like Beauty & the Beast and Peter Pan!), and kid-favorite games and skills (from Disney, National Geographic, Nickelodeon, and more).
Don’t worry, manners are still important! The FreeTime feature “Magic Word” provides positive reinforcement when kids use the word “please” when asking Alexa to do something. Cool, right?
The Amazon Parent Dashboard let you set daily time limits, review activity, or pause Alexa on the device (which is great for bedtime!).
The Echo Dot Kids Edition comes in a kid-friendly case in either blue, red, or green, with a two-year worry-free guarantee. If your child breaks the Echo, return it and Amazon will replace it for free. What other kids gadget has that kind of warranty? Thanks, Amazon!
