One of the most beneficial toys in a toddler’s development is a sorting toy. Not only are they entertaining, children gain valuable knowledge & skills from them including learning shapes and colors, hand-eye coordination development, and problem-solving. Mae’s shape sorter (#4) has always been one of her most challenging toys but also one of her most engaging and rewarding.

There are so many darling shape sorters to choose from! I had a hard time narrowing it down to just ten, but here are my picks:

Shape Sorting Toys
1. Le Toy Van Noah’s Ark Shape Sorter: This is one of my favorites and not just because of the pink flamingos, although those definitely contributed! This toy encourages imaginative play and will be enjoyed at multiple stages of a child’s development.
2. Djeco Kikou Leo Lion Shape Sorter: This is the priciest one on the list. But really, it might also be the cutest.
3. Janod Wooden Shape Sorter: Everything made by Janod is just perfect. I’ll just add this beautiful classic shape sorter to the list.
4. Kid O Sort a Shape House: We have this shape sorter and love it! It’s lightweight and Mae enjoyed opening and closing the door before she was able to understand the shapes. {Confession – the sound of the plastic blocks isn’t the most pleasant, but it doesn’t bother me much.}
5. Janod Shape Sorting House: This darling shape sorter includes a learning clock with moveable hands plus a handle making it easy for littles ones to carry around.
6. Tolo Teatime Shape Sorter: The best toys are the ones that have more than one function! This toy is both a shape sorter and a tea pot. The shapes are tea cups and there’s a plastic insert that can be filled with liquid for tea time.
7. Plan Toys Sorting Bus: Another multi-function toy! This one encourages lots of creativity as it can be used as a dump truck, pull toy, & sorting toy.
8. Plan Toys Owl Shape Sorter: A simple yet darling wooden owl shape sorter featuring four shapes.
9. Dwell Studio Zoo Shape Sorter: The sleek modern design of this shape sorter makes it one of my favorites. Children can learn their animals while working on coordination.
10. Hape Walk Along Shape Sorter: This shape sorter doubles as a pull along toy. The sorter can sit on top of the snail or it can be removed and the snail roll alone.
